Tip 2 - 3:17 Redcar - Exceed

Exceed had a consistent three-year-old campaign, three times finishing second before ending the campaign with a victory at Thirsk. Finished fourth in a better race than this over course and distance but was under two lengths from the victor who is now rated 12 pounds higher than today’s choice. Reappearance after 323 days last week yielded a good second at Yarmouth, so he could be in good shape to go one better today.

The step up to 4m1f is a bit of an unknown, but his main rivals in the betting have questions to answer. Coko Beach is less than three weeks removed from a gruelling run in the Aintree Grand National, while Stumptown has to prove his effectiveness in cross country races. With most of the rest of the field looking plain not good enough, Birchdale is the percentage play.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
