Tip 1 - 2:05 Navan - Platino Bianco

Platino Bianco was thought highly enough to run in a big sales race at the Curragh as a 2yo. Despite finishing last, the fact that he was in the race is almost a tip in itself. She was dropped to five furlongs for her seasonal debut at Cork in March, showing enough speed to challenge a couple of furlongs out before fading. Now moving into handicaps and on better ground, she's worth taking a chance on, given her lenient-looking opening mark of 59.

Tip 2 - 3:05 Navan - Neptunes Staircase

The betting in this race revolves around the top three in the market who have had a recent run, Neptunes Staircase looks to have the best chance of those three. He ran well on his seasonal reappearance only being beaten by what looked like a well-handicapped horse, and now with first time blinkers fitted, he has the chance to reverse the form with Bay of Sanibel. Beaten only a neck on their previous meeting, Neptunes Staircase is now 4lb better off at the weights and has 5lb claimer James Ryan booked to help the cause.

Tip 3 - 4:20 Fakenham - Jigginstown King

There are a few horses in this in bad form, so it takes a slight leap of faith on any of these. While the trip is a question, Jigginstown King could be really well treated off bottom weight here. He is running off a mark of 106, which was his last winning mark in October. He won at Fakenham in May last year, albeit over a mile shorter than today, but he shaped at reappearance here last month as if he would come on for the run having not been seen since December prior to that. If he has the stamina for the 3m5f, he can take advantage of a lovely looking mark.

What is the Staking Plan and How Does a 1pt Win System Work?

We advise each bet as a win single or sometimes as an each way single. You can of course choose to combine the selections in a multiple bet, a Lucky 15 or a Yankee etc and that is a very popular way to follow the horses selected in this column daily.

A 1pt win per horse is advised in general and that means whatever your normal stake is for a bet is used as a point. For many this is £1 and for some this is £10 or more but it is totally relative to the individual and shouldn’t be more than you can afford to lose at any time. 

For each way selections we advise a 0.5pt each way stake. So as with the win selections this would be a £1 total bet (50 pence each way) or a £10 total bet (£5 each way).
