Gary Neville 6/1 to enjoy Champions League qualification with new club Valencia
One of the biggest breaking stories of the season has seen Gary Neville appointed head coach of Valencia CF until the end of the campaign.
Phil Neville had been part of the coaching staff at the Mestalla, although his older brother now takes the reins as we enter December, with the former Sky Sports pundit relinquishing his TV duties to focus on his first club management role.
Valencia sit ninth in La Liga this season, having qualified for the Champions League last term and the owners clearly feel as though a top-four finish is a realistic ambition again this season.
BetVictor offer 6/1 that Los Che enjoy a top-four finish this term and they sit five points behind fourth-placed Celta Vigo at this moment in time, with the team currently unbeaten at the Mestalla.
Of more immediate concern is qualifying for the Champions League last sixteen stage, with second place behind Zenit Saint Petersburg up for grabs. Ladbrokes have 13/10 about Valencia claiming second spot although a victory over Lyon is imperative next week.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be given this opportunity with Valencia,” said the England assistant coach Neville, who has stood down from his role with Sky Sports as a pundit with immediate effect.
“Valencia are a huge football club of immense standing and I know from my time as a player the passion and dedication of the Valencia fans.
“I am really looking forward to working with the club’s talented group of players and am excited about the challenge ahead.”
Neville’s first match in charge of Valencia will be against Barcelona on Saturday – a baptism of fire which has Paddy Power offering 9/1 that Los Che pull off an amazing win.
